The ‘Gender in Focus - Research Talent’ funding program supports doctoral candidates at the University of Jena in effectively integrating aspects of sex and gender into their research projects.

What is the aim of the funding program?

The systematic consideration of biological sex and socio-cultural gender in the natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, social sciences and humanities can lead to a significant improvement in the quality of research and to the target group-specific applicability of research results. The ‘Gender in Focus’ funding program therefore supports research projects that pay particular attention to these aspects. You can find research examples on our homepage..

Which projects are subsidised?

In the ‘Research Talent’ funding, travel costs for participation in workshops and conferences as well as material costs - for example for actions in science communication (e.g. posters, podcasts and other effective forms of presentation), for a publication grant or for exchanges with peers and people with specialist expertise - can be applied for up to a total of 2,500 euros. The funding applied for must be spent within one year of approval.

How to submit an application?

To apply, you must submit the following documents:

• Application form with project description, timetable and budget plan
• CV
• Statement of the supervisor (Declaration regarding employment status and eligibility for funding)

How is the selection process organised?

The applications submitted are assessed by a selection committee made up of members of the project steering group and people with specialist expertise from the LIFE, LIGHT and LIBERTY profile areas. In the event of successful approval, the applicants will be notified by the coordination centre and informed of the next steps for implementing the planned project.
