Application deadline 2023-06-20
People who plan to work in leading positions outside academia require a set of generic skills in addition to technical expertise. Especially important are management and leadership competencies as well as the abilitiy to communicate with people from different professional backgrounds. Depending on the targeted occupational field the basic knowledge of business, intercultural competence or abilities regarding public relations work or scientific communication can be helpful. The definition of the own career goals and a professional job application also belong to the requirements of a career outside university.
In order to further develop these abilities and to be able to verify the individual set of skills to a possible employer, the Graduate Academy is offering the certificate programme "Leadership in Industry and Society".
The programme addresses doctoral candidates and postdocs of Friedrich Schiller University who aim at a career outside university. Only a maximum of 16 people per year are accepted in the certificate programme. The certificate language can be either German or English.
The main focus is on "Communication, Leadership and Management" (3 workshops) and "Career Planning and Job Application" (1 workshop), supplemented by one elective (2 workshops). Participants can choose from a range of different workshops of each area. You may find an overview of the courses that can be selected here.
The programme comprises six workshops. It begins in the winter term and can be completed in two to four terms.
You only have to pay the service charges for the individual workshops (between 10€ and 30€ per workshop). There will be no additional costs.
