Applying at Abbe School of Photonics


to the Online Application System. Thank you for your interest in our Ph.D. program. The application process is organized in four easy steps which you are advised to follow in order to apply successfully. Information about admission requirements and deadlines can be found here. Step 1:

Fill out the application and upload your documents.

Step 2:

Edit your application data and/or upload the remaining documents.

Submit your application.

Your application will be reviewed by the Abbe School of Photonics faculty members you applied for. They will contact you directly if they find your application interesting. It is possible that different supervisors will contact you at the same time. You can discuss your possibilities with each of them. If you receive acceptance letters from more than one supervisor you can decide which project you would like to start. (The supervisors are allowed to see the status of your application: contacted, invited, accepted, declined by professor xy)

Step 3:

You will receive a notification about the decision of the Abbe School of Photonics (latest two months after submission or two months after the last action of the faculty members in the system).

Of course, we will assist and guide you through the complete process.
